SADIE’S STORY

Sadie was the loving companion of Lois R. Heald, wife of the late James Heald. Sadly Lois, Mo as she was known to her friends, passed away on April 13, 2016. She loved to play bridge, play golf at Skokie Country Club and spend time with her family and friends as well as her beloved Basset Hounds. Everyone knew how much Mo cared about Sadie. They were all concerned about Sadie’s future when Mo’s time came. Mo knew it would be difficult to find a home for a senior like Sadie so she made arrangements if a home for Sadie couldn’t be found. Luckily Mo and Sadie’s dog park friends moved into action and AaRoooo!! agreed to help. Sadie was surrendered to AaRoooo!! when Mo passed and is now in a loving permanent foster home complete with two loving foster parents and three new basset brothers and sisters. Sadie’s future is secure. She will live the rest of her life with a new loving family that respects the love Mo gave her. Mo’s family graciously and generously asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to AaRoooo!! Basset Rescue.

Sadie is one of the lucky hounds that are rescued by AaRoooo!! She was a faithful companion to a wonderful woman who cared for her and knew Sadie would need someone’s help when she could no longer care for her. But not all the bassets that AaRoooo!! helps are as fortunate as Sadie. Many are abused, neglected and eventually abandoned. They often arrive at AaRoooo!! in terrible physical condition, emotionally damaged and in need of medical care. But AaRoooo!! helps as many hounds as we can.

Of course much of what AaRoooo!! does takes financial resources. We are grateful for every donation we receive, regardless of amount. One of our most pressing needs however is more foster homes. As a foster home based rescue we are limited by the number of foster homes helping us. When absolutely necessary we do board hounds in our care, but that takes financial resources. Resources that we wish we could use in other ways. If you want to learn more about fostering, please use the links below to contact us or fill out a foster home application.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Lois (Mo) Heald and our thanks for bringing AaRoooo!! and its work to the attention of so many people.
